The three icon's I am choosing are: Beyonce, Spongebob Squarepants, and Maci Bookout. Each of these play a particular role in my current life and they also show difference sides of pop culture.
Beyonce is a musical artist and an actress that portrays the respectful and professional side of the media. She is a great role model on how to behave and act and treat other people. She portrays the type of music that I love to listen to and come on, her vocals...

Spongebob Squarepants is a cartoon show that plays on Nickelodeon and has been around for a long time. This show is pretty much my life, all because of my beautiful daughter who loves it more than anything. This show is a huge part of pop culture because it has been around for so long and impact many children.
Maci Bookout is a reality TV star that first came out on 16 and Pregnant and then on Teen Mom. She is the picture of today's reality TV and what pop culture is slowly turning into. Pop culture is forming around the lives of today's teens and the struggles they go through. Maci and I are similar because I was a teen mom myself. We have faced some of the same struggles and dealt with similar problems.
I do not know what happened to my first comment but here it goes again. I believe that Beyonce is one iconic figure that this century will never forget. She has touched the hearts and souls across the globe with her talents and graceful presence.
ReplyDeleteSpongebob as well is a great cartoon that my children too enjoy watching. I believe this show is iconic because it posess the innocence that television use to have for children. With these new shows some of the material may be a little too grown up or risky so I can appreciate Spongebob as an icon. Great job Jessica!
I love your choices they are very different and make sense. I wonder who is a bigger ICON? I think its all in who you ask. Beyonce has become such a staple in our homes because of controversy and commercials not necessarily because of her music. If you ask my husband he would say because she lip sync'd at the presidential inauguration. It is interesting what makes them icons.

ReplyDeleteI love your blog! I am a huge fan of Beyonce as well; I have been following her since she was a part of Destiny’s Child. I agree that her music is amazing!!!! I also like that you picked SpongeBob, I always have to watch with my sister’s children, even though I have to say that I find myself watching the show even when they are not around….lol. I also like that you posted Maci Booklet from teen mom, many teenage girls have to struggle with having a child at an early age. This is a true example of today’s society, I hadn’t even thought about that for an icon analysis. Great job!!!
